Past President, Steve Semler

Steve is a learning and development leader with more than 25 years of experience in training and development. He has a background in learning psychology and internal and external consulting experience in a variety of industries. He has been a PACT member since 2008.

He earned his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, his M.S. in Human Resource Management and Development from Chapman University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Human Resource Development at the University of Minnesota.

Steve has worked with a variety of organizations, including the U.S. Army, Honeywell, the Schwan Food Company, Personnel Decisions International, The Mosaic Company, MoneyGram, and dozens of consulting clients in multiple industries.

Steve lives in Saint Louis Park with his wife and two school-age daughters. All of the Semler family classify themselves as “gamers,” with interests in Star Trek, World of Warcraft, Dungeons & Dragons, and other geek hobbies. Steve is also a published science fiction author, with several books available on Amazon.

President, Molly Dueber

As a long time PACT member, Molly returns to the board as a opportunity to look at the industry with fresh eyes. Currently supporting the elearning fir Medical Education at Medtronic, she consistently looks both inside and outside the learning and development discipline to ensure people can do their jobs. Performance support, workforce planning and business architecture have helped her grow.

Molly has been engaged in a few different youth mentoring program, including Junior Achievement and the Gustavus Alumni Mentoring Program.

Treasury Chair, Mike Schimmel

Mike has been a member of PACT for over 24 consecutive years and is honored to be a member of the PACT Hall of Fame. His time on the board includes many years as Treasurer, a few with Membership and even a short time as Career Enhancement Chair.

Currently an Account Manager for SumTotal a SkillSoft company, Mike applies his entrepreneurial passion and creative strategies to meet and exceed customer needs.

Mike lives in Rosemount, MN with his wife, 3 boys and Golden Retriever. In addition to every-day activities, Mike is a Volunteer Firefighter for Rosemount and a licensed Real Estate Agent.

Membership Chair, Laura Lochen

Laura Lochen is an eLearning instructional designer, training consultant and coach with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. She has been in training, coaching, instructional design, and learning for over 10 years and loves watching people grow and develop. She is passionate about giving people the opportunity to learn new things and become better at all they do.

Laura has a Master’s degree in Organizational Learning and Development from the University of St. Thomas.

Laura lives in Minneapolis with her husband Bill and teenage daughter, Kat, where she loves being in the outdoors, enjoying time with her family and friends, and trying new things.

Program Chair, Yolanda Beckers

Yolanda Beckers is a Learning and Development Specialist at Universal Hospital Services, a Minneapolis-based medical equipment management and services company. She is an internal consulting for operations, quality and operational excellence business partners—determined to develop and challenge the teams that she supports.

Yolanda earned a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Master’s degrees in Instructional Design for Online Learning and Training and Performance Improvement from Capella University.

Communications Chair, Phil Zuidema

Phil has been involved in learning since 2006, working for Allen Interactions, Interact Medical, Capella University, and MNSCU at Inver Hills C.C. and Dakota County C.C. He has worked in a consulting role with several other companies, developing learning simulations and instructional design.

Currently he is serving a passion by beginning a business providing aerial photography and cinematography and holds an FAA Part 107 certification as a Remote Pilot.

When he is not flying for work or pleasure, you will find him in his wood shop making furniture or spending time with his wife Linda, his kids, or his grandkids.

I am so grateful to be doing my life’s work: helping people maintain balance through transitions in their work, relationships, and life. I provide guidance to a wide variety of people and organizations through writing, speaking, and coaching.

In addition to a series of best-selling books, I have the privilege of being a regular contributor to The Huffington Post—and in 2015, I founded The White Box Club™, a Meetup that provides free support and resources for people in career transition.
